turn off iphone should require a passcode

I had my iphone 5 stolen last week and the Police was not able to trace it as the thief turned it off.

If a passcode was required in order to switch off and even activate flight mode, the iphone will stay on and give the robber no alternative but to dump the iphone somewhere for not be traced.

I hope this will not get lost like many other ideas...

To the person who took my iphone: hope you will need more than that in medicine!

No offense, but that's a rather unintelligent idea. Imagine if the device is locked up and the user cannot reboot the device because some stupid password must be entered to power it down. Talk about frustrating.

Use the features that Apple provides, namely Find My iPhone to remotely lock or wipe the device. With Find My iPhone enabled in iOS7 and later, without the Apple ID used to activate the feature, the device can never be restored/activated by anyone else.
