If he cannot remember the ID and password, there is nothing anyone can do. Without that information, you have a nice paper weight brick.

There is only one way to disable activation lock so you can use that - your friend is either going to have to remember his original ID and password, or ask Apple to recover it so he can use it long enough to disable activation lock.

Apple cannot/will not help you with this - the original owner has to disable activation lock with thier iCloud account password..  No one else can do it for you.
