Updating iPhone 4 from 6.1.2 to 7.0.4, only to be run over with error 3004

Does anybody here knows how to fix error 3004? The program is enabled on Windows firewall. I have tried every solution in existence all over the internet for no avail, even putting my phone on recovery mode and restoring it from there. Any solution is welcome.

Hi racersdream,

Welcome to the Support Communities!

The article below may be able to help you with this.

Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694#error3004

Resolve communication issues

Check the hosts file or TCP/IP filtering, which might cause communication issues between iTunes, ports, and servers.

Common errors: 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194, or 3000-3999. These alerts refer to gs.apple.com, say "There was a problem downloading the software", or say the "device isn't eligible for the requested build".

Error 3194 or "This device isn't eligible for the requested build"

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts4451

Check your "hosts" file

After you've updated iTunes to the latest version, you can check the hosts file to be sure your computer can contact the update server.

If you’re using a Windows computer, follow steps in this Microsoft support article, noting that resetting the hosts file will affect software services that rely on hosts file redirects. If you're using Windows on a business computer, consult your IT department to be sure applications will still work correctly after resetting the hosts file.

Cheers,

- Judy
