Calendar has crashed.

Calendar has crashed on my MacBook Pro Retina, 15-inch, Early 2013 OS X 10.9.1 (13B42). Calendar is stuck with an upgrading calendars graphic (blue barber poll is not moving) Can do nothing but force quit. Rebooting does not help. Is it possible to delete/remove the calendar app and download a new version? Thank you for any help you are able to provide.

Hello, rjp49.

Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.

Hopefully I can help resolve this issue for you. Try removing the preference to sync calendar events in iCloud preferences. Once this is down enable the preference again and see if this resolves the issue.

  • Turn iCloud Calendars off and back on:
    1. Quit Calendar (or iCal).
    2. ChooseApple () menu > System Preferences, then select iCloud.
    3. Deselect the checkbox next to Calendars.
    4. Close System Preferences and wait about a minute.
    5. Open System Preferences and select iCloud.
    6. Replace the checkmark next to Calendars.
    7. Close System Preferences.
    8. Open Calendar (or iCal) and test to see if the issue is resolved.
  • Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it reinitializes your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

If the issue persists, try all remaining steps in the article below.

Thank you Jason, I have just tried all of that but no luck. The issue is apparently the app that is on my MBP and not the iCloud. That leaves my original question even more pertinent now. Is it possible to delete/remove the calendar app and download a new version? Thank you for any help you are able to provide.
