Looks like no one’s replied in a while. To start the conversation again, simply ask a new question.

Can't send iMessage to one of my contacts!

I can send an imessage to all my iphone contacts except my fathers new iphone 5S.

He only gets my texts via cell network, but I get his repies in iMessage.

I have searched high & low but cant figure this one out.

My wife & son can both send an iMessage to him, but I seem to be the only one that can't send him an iMessage.

My phone's setting are the same as my wife's iphone.

FYI, I can Facetime his account, no problem. Just can't send an iMessage?


Anyone else have this problem?

Hey newgen5015,


I understand that your iMessage seems to work normally with everyone except your father. To troubleshoot the issue, I would follow these steps on both of the devices:


  1. Restart your device.
  2. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings on your iPhone.
  3. Make sure that the contact trying to message you isn't blocked in Settings > Messages > Blocked.
  4. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
  5. If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and re-create the contact in the Contacts application. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
  6. Back up and restore your device as new.

Do one step on both devices, then test, and if it doesn't work move to the next step and repeat. If you run through all of them on both devices, it should resolve the issue.
