Have you looked into notifications? There are a lot defaulted to on that you may not need. Also background app update and background app refresh can drain the battery.

also look to see if your mail is on push or fetch. Push means that it reaches out to the server at regular intervals to get mail while you sleep. Fetch means it'll only go get mail when you tell it to

Any of these can affect battery life.

If there are still issues, make an appointment at your local apple store and have them check it out. There could be something wrong with the battery and they can run diagnostics to check.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
