Why can't you log into your iCloud account?

I lost all my photos in my camera roll as well as all folders with recent update. Photo stream has 175 of the over 500. Can't log into my icloud either - keeps telling me to set up an acct even tho I already have one. So many pics of my new granddaughter are in there - I am beyond heartbroken!

You can't view icloud.com from an iOS device, you can only go there from a computer.  That's why it's telling you to set up and account.  Go to icloud.com with your computer browser instead.

Photo stream only remain in iCloud for 30 days, allowing enough time for your devices to download them.  If the missing photo stream photos are older than 30 days, that's why you don't have them.  They are no longer in iCloud to download again.

Camera roll photos are included in your backup.  Restoring the backup should recover them.  If you're not sure how to restore a backup, reply back and I'll explain how.

Your camera roll photos are included in your backup, but this won't contain any folders.  Restoring the backup should recover your photos.  If this is an iCloud backup, first go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage and confirm that the name of your device is listed at the top.  If so, you have to first erase your device by going to Settings>Genereral>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go through the setup screens on your device and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud backup and follow the prompts.  Make sure your device is connected to wifi and your charger as it is restoring the backup.
