My Macbook wont light up / turn on.

My Macbook wont light up. It makes all the sounds as of it is turning on but the screen remains black.

I have tried adjusting the brightness, and i restarted it by powering it of, holding down the shift, option, control and power keys and releasing them all simultaneously. Then continued to turn it on but still no luck. I just got this computer for christmas a couple weeks ago so this is extremely dissapointing. Any suggestions?
