I am having QT freeze when I stop recording

I have done three recordings of different lengths doing the same tutorial that I was making. At the end of each I hit the stop like it tells me to and the whole program freezes. When I force quit and open Quicktime again my recording opens as well but the end is cut off like it froze while saving it or something.

Is there a way to stop this from happening?
