Max Memory/RAM for MacBookPro9,2

Hi, I'm using "MACBOOK PRO MID 2012 - MacBookPro9,2"

Processor 2.5 GHz Intel Core i5 (Non- Retina)

What is the Maximum RAM/Memory for this Model.

Apple says 8GB but some other site says 16GB.

Did anyone tried with 16GB?

Suggestion please..

MacBook Pro (13-inch Mid 2012), OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.4)

MacBookPro9,2 (mid-2012, A1278, EMC 2554)

I put in a single 8GB DDR3L chip, but the laptop just beeps; and to prove low voltage okay (because who doesn't want a chance at longer battery life?!), I dropped in two 4GB DDR3L and it was fine. Just my experience: the 4GB chip max (and two slots makes 8GB total max) was true as advertised (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201165).

Unsure if there's a specific model of a memory chip that will allow us to use 8GB chips (like OWC is advertising: https://eshop.macsales.com/upgrades/macbook-pro-13-inch-mid-2012-2.5-ghz/memory), but I used Hynix brand (because that's what Apple uses), and it didn't work. It's an old machine (and just as old of a post!), and 8GB total with an SSD makes it feel okay.
