how do i use dictation?
Did all the preference requirements. Now what?
iMac, OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)
Are you pressing the Fn key twice to start Dictation and once to stop it?

I'm not sure of the whole proceedure. I hit FN twice...said something , then hit it once, nothing happened
I just did this and it works - see if it is the same for you:
In Mail (I think it could be any app that allows you to type stuff), create a new email, click in the area where you compose your message and then double-tap the Fn key - a small image of a microphone should appear. Start speaking and then tab Fn once to stop it. Any luck?
