I can't Play MP4 video on quicktime , Please Help !!

Try opening it using QuickTime Player 7.

Note that there are several formats that use the ".mp4" file extension, including at least one that is proprietary to Microsoft, that have not been ported to Mac. If you just need to play the video any way you can, and don't specifically need it in QuickTime, you can try the freeware VLC Media Player which supports more formats:

I have this problem trying to play tv episodes downloaded from ishow.ws to my iphone then wifi transfered to my MBA. I have taken your advice and downloaded VLC media player and it too doesn't recognise the files. The files play ok on my iphone, but when connected to a tv there is only sound and no image. Thanks in advance for any help 🙂.

According to Apple Support Website, QuickTime can only support MPEG-4 (.mp4, .m4v), but MP4 is a complex video container with various video and audio codecs. That's why sometimes QuickTime plays MP4 well, sometimes doesn't.
