itunes cannot download app updates

My iPhone has no issues downloading app updates.

however, itunes has over 300 apps pending updates. I tell itunes to update them all as usual, and it starts to download...but it ends up hanging after the initial 3 apps are downloaded but says processing...it will stay for hours.

Anyone else have this issue?
