I can't send mail from my iPad apps, I just get the error message, 'The recipient… was rejected by the server because it does not allow relaying.' Does anyone know what this means and how to fix the problem.

It's effectively seeing/treating it as spam email. Try going into Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > select the account on the right-hand side of that screen, then tap on the account name at the top of the popup, tap on SMTP (under the 'Outgoing Mail Server' heading) and then tap on your Primary Server and try entering your email account and password and see if it then works

By 'no' do you mean that you've entered your id and password on the outgoing server name and it still doesn't work, or that you aren't able to enter it ?

How did you set up the account on your iPad e.g. did you manually enter the settings or were they set up automatically for you ? If you had to enter all of its details yourself (server names etc) then have you checked with your provider's website that you have the correct outgoing server name ?

Are you trying to use another network to send email from an

account based on Time Warner/Roadrunner? TWC/RR only

allows email coming in directly on its own network - you cannot

be on wifi at a public place and send TWC/RR email.

Who is your email provider? And do you get the error message

everywhere or just in some locations? If some, what locations?

If error is occuring everywhere including your home, there is a problem

with your settings and you need to contact your email provider.

You may wish to do as King_Penguin asks above and check your

provider's website again? Some have different settings depending

if you are home or mobile; sometimes the mobile settings are buried

and not obvious from the home page.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Or this - Delete the account in Mail and then set it up again. Settings->Mail, Contacts, Calendars -> Accounts Tap on the Account, then on the red button that says Remove Account.

 Cheers, Tom 😉
