Old gen 1 ipod connection to a new HP desktop

I have a 20gb, generation 1 ipod that I need to access itunes thru a new HP desktop with NO firewire port. I believe the gen 1 does not work with a USB? What would I need to do to connect to the computer?

iPod classic, First Generation

Hi AudioCzar,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

You can probably find a Firewire 400 to USB converter on the internet somewhere. If it's a desktop, you can even use a PCI card.

Here's one: http://www.amazon.com/EarlyBirdSavings-Firewire-Adaptor-Converter-Connector/dp/B 008XYG4KA

Plug the iPod into that, and the USB into the computer.

Good luck,

- Marcus
