How do I restore older ipod video with click wheel?

I have an ipod video 30GB with click wheel that won't restore. I have followed support instructions w/no success. Ipod shows white screen saying restore is necessary. Once I plug into Itunes it prompts to restore and ipod looks like it is restarting and then it prompts again to restore, over and over again this cycle. I have all the updates on my windows and all all current updates on Itunes. I have followed support instructions to restart and restore ipod. Nothing seems to be working. Please help?

Thank you for the details of the issue you are experiencing with your iPod. You have taken some really good steps already to troubleshoot this issue, but I'm not sure if you have tried resetting your iPod:

If the iPod continues to display this message after restoring it, keep reading for more possible solutions.

Reset

The iPod may have locked up. Reset the iPod. After resetting iPod, attempt to restore it in iTunes.

Service

If none of these steps address the issue, your iPod may need to be repaired. You can arrange for service at theiPod Service Website.
