Why does email always open on icloud email?

On my iPad Retina, my new Mini Retina and my iPhone 5s, when I check mail, it always opens on iCloud email instead of on my list of email accounts. I have to go back, back (back to iCloud folders, back to my email accounts) to get to my new emails in my regular accounts.

iPad, iOS 6

For your iPad...Make sure you are in the landscape view, and open your mail app, then look at the "ACCOUNTS" section toward the bottom left of screen. My guess is that your iCloud account is listed first. If it is (and I bet it is), click the blue Edit link at the lop left of the screen.

Scroll down on the left pane to the ACCOUNTS area, and drag the mail account (that you want you to appear automatically on start) to the top of the ACCOUNTS section. Make sure you drag by the three parallel lines to the right of the mail account name. Then tap DONE. Voila!

on iPhone:

> open mail.

> go to list of mailboxes. (top left)

> select edit. (top right)

> scroll all the way to the bottom where inboxes are listed.

> click & hold on 3 line symbol, while holding slide up & down to change order of list.

> make your primary inbox first. (I made iCloud last)

> now when you open your mail app it will default to whichever mailbox is first in the order.

Does Apple Support ever actually answer in this forum? This is an issue with my phone also.

Apple only has limited participation here. They have a few "Community Specialists" that respond to posts that are 48 hours old without any response. Since this thread has a number of posts, it's extremely unlikely that Apple will respond to it. I don't know what's causing the problem myself, but if you want to hear from Apple you'll either have to contact support or go to the Genius bar at an Apple store.
