With Mavericks cannot drag/drop, nor cut/paste anthing from the Character Pallette into my word documents

I now have Mavericks, and I just noticed that I cannot drag/drop, nor cut/paste anthing from the Character Pallette into my word documents. I used to do it all the time, without thinking about it.

But something changed...
