i have an unusual loud noise coming from my macbook pro

It started about 2 years ago when the laptop was first purchased, where an unusual loud noise emmits from one side of the laptop. The sound is what i can only describe as a loud screech and a few clicks. This happens on few occasions throughout the day, every day. Apple have had it overnight at least twice and have heard nothing. Slightly worried it may be the hard drive.
