Can I increase feedback when using my headphones?

I have a hearing limitation that keeps me from hearing my own voice when I use the Apple headphones. Essentially, there's not enough feedback from the microphone to the earbuds. The earbuds block enough of my voice that I cannot hear my own words without talking very loud, or sometimes even yelling. Is there a way to increase the feedback so I don't have to talk so loudly when I'm using the headphones?
