My iPhone 4s does not read a wifi signal since the last update. What can I do?

I am having trouble with my iPhone 4s not recognizing a wifi signal when I know there is a signal. I have tried to reset network settings but it will only recognize any signal for aprox. 5 minutes or less. Is there a fix for this issue?
