Q: iTunes Match from iPad

I have lost all of my music from my computer  and  they were not backed up. However they are still on my iPad and previous iPhone. Will iTunes Match allow me to place these songs into the cloud so I can get them on my new devices?

You can only subscribe to, and upload music from, a computer's iTunes. For music purchased from iTunes you might be able to redownload them on your computer's iTunes via the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage (if you still have the tracks listed in the Music part of your library then you won't get the cloud symbol against the tracks in Purchased, you will need to delete them from Music to get the cloud symbol), or you can copy them back from your device via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases.

For music from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs) there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back from a device : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
