Jan 8, 2014 6:58 PM in response to AnaMusicby Mtski72,Right now to iTunes progress bar states "restoring iPhone firmware..." Been on this screen for over 20 minutes.
Didn't write Down the exact error message. This is my 5th attempt. I will post error message exactly when/if it comes back up. I believe the "error code" was 3014 if I remember correctly

Jan 8, 2014 9:19 PM in response to ChrisJ4203by Mtski72,After trying a number of things, I tried just hooking up to another computer. The iTunes version was NOT the newest but close. Phone recovered in about 20 minutes.
Thanks for your ideas

Jan 8, 2014 9:25 PM in response to Mtski72by ChrisJ4203,That error is a communications error, and could have to do with the hosts file on the computer. Using the second computer could have fixed that. If your computer had ever been used to jailbreak a phone, that can modify your hosts file. The support document that you linked to the forum explains the hosts issue.
