Filter in keyword HUD stopped working, Repair Database crashes

I'm an Aperture user for years (since Aperture 1) and this is a first for me. Normally, when you type in the filter field of the Aperture HUD it filters to keywords in that list. That has just stopped working. The moment I input one letter the keyword HUD goes empty.

I've tried all repair options (Repair Permissions, Repair Database, Rebuild Database). First 2 ones work without complaining. 3rd one crashes during "Restoring faces". Also a new one...

Yes, I have a vault (but it's a few months old, I know, I know...).

Hoping for any tips.
