I have a iPod nano 4th gen that is stuck in a recovery mode.

Last week my iPod nano wouldn't turn on (black screen no apple logo) The day previous to that I stopped hearing the wheel clicking. Today I have plugged my iPod into my computer to restore it and my computer says it is stuck in recovery mode. when I restore the iPod I wait for all the prompts to finish then I get a message box saying "iTunes needs to prepare your iPod for recovery. Please leave you iPod connected" I click continue and keep it connected. I then hear 4 beeps coming from my iPod then I am back at the option to restore. I have done the 5 r's and also turned off my anti-virus. I am unsure what else to do. The iPod does appear in my device manager. I am using windows 7 ultimate 64x. Please help.
