I started down loading this maverick OS I paused it when I saw a incompatible issue can i stop it now

You can let it finish downloading just don't install it when it asks. You can delete it from you downloads folder.

You can delete it from your Applications folder, after quitting it.

finished dowmloading, didn't install but it still is in my software update as downloaded.

Once again, the file downloads to your "Applications" folder, not your "Downloads" folder.

The file is named, "Install OS X Mavericks."

There should be a 'Hide Update' option in the menu bar or control - click the update and select hide.
