Why can't I buy explicit song on iTunes.

Check your Restrictions: Settings>General>Restrictions>Allowed Content>Music and Podcasts. If you have Restrictions turned on, you need to have Allow Music & Podcasts Rated Explicit turned on.

Whenever I go to Settings>General>Restrictions>Allowed Content>Music and Podcasts it always says "clean" and it's greyed out. It doesn't matter if I have restrictions enabled or not.

Although, I just realized from another post that this may be because I recently had to add a profile for work and I imagine they've blocked explicit content.

Do you mean the word "clean" is greyed out? Yes, it woud be. If you are signed into Restrictions, tap on that line, and it will then go to the next screen, where you can turn on Explicit.

You must have Restrictions enabled and be signed on to do this.

Yes I've done this. It is the only thing greyed out. After enabling restrictions I can change everything except music. It stays greyed out. I'm certain that this is a setting from the profile I had to install in order to get my corporate email. I'm responding in case others have experienced a similar problem.

i am having the same issue. I can't turn on the Music and podcast from safe to explicit. I just subscribed to Apple Music subscription. I am having the same issue on my iPad and iPhone. Any ideas?

Ammar, hi, the same happened to me, I just created a new account for apple musi and I just can't play any explicit song, btw restrictions in generall settings is grayed out too.

i had the same problem after updating my iphone 5s to iOS 8.4. This is how i fixed it:

Go to Settings => General => Restrictions

Turn on Restrictions

Under Allowed Content you'll find Music and Podcasts. Set this to Explicit.

Turn off Restrictions

Now you can listen to and buy explicit music again. But it seems that this does not work on all devices.

Even with turned on restriction this toggle where supposed to be clean/explicit choose is not active

HI Yregkvff, it seems like the explicit content are only available in certain iTunes Stores. I created a new Apple ID in UK and as soon as I signed in I was able to control the explicit contents. Unfortunately it's not available in UAE where I live which makes me very sad.

Yes, its all about the country you choose. I live in Belarus and its prohibited to change restrictions of music to "explicit".
