Alright, so not too long ago, computer crashed, had no full backup for it. Lost everything.

After downloading iTunes and its content again, I noticed that not all of it had been downloaded. I've read that after some time, the downloads for some content sort of disappear.

So why is iTunes not able to download all of the music and other content? A few albums which show up, don't have all of their songs. Other Albums won't show at all.. I can't sync with my ipod anymore, because I will lose all of the music I do have, and I'm afraid I might have just caused that trying to figure this out.

If this is a worry from iTunes for piracy, someone please make that clear.. I'm losing over 100 songs if this isn't fixable. iCloud isn't helping and these albums are still in the iTunes store. Purchased, but unable to redownload. If somebody did have mulitple computers for a family, this would be a bigger problem to them as well.

Help? Thoughts?

Another point.. If we can't redownload, why does it still show purchased instead of buy or download.. i wouldn't care if it was a penny to redownload.. you'd still make money somehow itunes..

What types of content that you can redownload depends upon what country that you are in (music, films and TV programmes can't be redownloaded in all countries ; audiobooks and ringtones are one-time only downloads). If music shows as a category in Purchased for redownloading but not all of it shows there (and you haven't changed countries since buying it) then check to see if anything is hidden : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4919

You should also be able to recover your purchases from your iPod : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141

For music from other sources (e.g. copied from CDs) there are some programs listed half-way down this page which should be able to copy them back : https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991

Ideally you'd be keeping and maintaining a backup copy of all of your downloads, any item could be removed from the store at any point - you are only guaranteed one download of each purchase.
