copying cell sizes / cell formats to a new table

Hi,

I created a complicated formated table in numbers with cells in all different sizes (height and width) and colors.

I want to paste and copy part of that table to a new sheet.

1. It seems impossible to simply create a new table WITHOUT any formats and alternating cell colors (Seriously?...)

2. When copying the cells to the new table/page all formats concerning the size (width and height) of the cells are lost. Surely there must be a way to keep the initial formatting.

Thanks for the help guys.

You are correct that cell height and width are not retained in the paste. Pretty much everything else is, though. I can see wanting the column or row size to change some times but I also can see times I wouldn't want that.

If you want to copy an entire row or column, complete with all formats and sizes, you can drag an entire row or column to another table. Use Option when dragging to create a copy vs moving it.

Apple does seem to like alternating row colors for the default table styles. You can turn them off pretty easy, though. You can create a table with or without headers. There is no such thing as "without any formats". What exactly do you want?

Hi Badunit,

what I am doing is trying to move part of a Table with all different cell width to another page. I keep losing the cell width which is realy annoying since it took me hours to set all the different cell width. I worked with Excell before and copying and retaining cell width and height was not a problem. So I´m pretty baffled that something simple as this can not be done with numbers. Shouldn´t there be something in the context menu like "Paste and keep layout" or smt like this?

Anyway thanks for the hint about drag & drop. That works quite well. I draged and dropped the part of the table on the same page and afterwards moved it to a new page. It shouldn´t be like having to do this in a two-step-procedure, but it´s a good workaraound.

Thanks a lot!
