Recently my ipad3 has stopped receiving emails although I can send, my wife has her own email address on the same ipad and works fine as does my email on my laptop, can anyone help?

Try deleting and re-adding the account (Settings app)
Thanks james, this seems to have cleared the problem, but still not sure what I might have done to cause it in the first place.
You're welcome. On rare occassion, the connection to your account (email server) gets hung up.
I Have the same problem. If I follow your advice will i lose all my old emails? Thank you.
I Should have said that, at present, all my old emails are not visible. I have updated the iPad to the latest iOS.
