I I have a 1 TG external drive that is formatted to Windows NTFS and is read only, how do i get it to read and write on my Mac OS X 10.6.3?

Install software such as Paragon NTFS, or reformat it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or FAT32. Mac OS X 10.6.5 and newer can also read and write exFAT partitions.

How do I reformat it as Mac OS Extended (Journaled) or FAT32? When I open the external drive using disk utilities there doesn't sem to be an option to reformat?
Any help would be great
Open the Disk Utility, select the drive in the sidebar, choose the Erase or Partition tab, specify the format, and click Erase.

Hi Niel,
There is no partition option, I elected to erase the disk MS Dos format and all is good. I can now read and write to this 1TG external drive- happy times.
