Screen decals/skin?

I have no idea if I am in the right forum...but I was wondering if anyone has seen any screen decals to put around the iMac. I have a client that doesn't want the white, but wants them to brand them according to their company. The only thing I have seen remotely similar is: www.decalgirl.com . Cool stuff there, but not for the iMac that I saw. Didn't know if there were thoughts/suggestions or something that you've seen?

Much appreciated,
John

John,

Cool idea!

How permanant did this need to be or not? Also which model iMac is it? if its with built in iSight, it's a little more tricky. What style are you needing?

Tons of stuff you can do, you just need to be slightly handy...

Thanks Rick. I thought it was a pretty ingenious idea, too. Goest to show that having a couple of beers after work does wonders! Well, we'd be going with the new intel ones with the built in iSight ---- but have no need for the cam for their purpose (which means it can be covered). As far as permanant, enough to look good. I'd like to see something that could be removed easy. One of my thoughts is if I can't figure out a solution to talk with a vehicle graphics company for that kind of shrink wrap.

What you thinking?

Hey John,

If you are at all handy/artistic check out an arts supply store, they will have sheet products that will 'stick' to the front plastic of the iMac. It comes in sheets, almost like the same way plastic wrap works...

You should try to locate the arts district or studios in your area... you can have something painted onto the film and the film can be applied to the face of the iMac. There will be a couple of trouble areas, first is the trimming but that can be overcome, second is the heat generated right above the Apple logo on front bottom of iMac. I don't know if the heat will prevent the film from sticking or the film somehow insulates and won't allow the machine to dissipate heat from that area.

Another option is to actually have the front face painted.

If you need help locating an artist/colony let me know, I pretty much have some knowledge of someone somewhere...

Rick,
I think I am going to start out with a car graphics company that I know. They should be able to adhere that too....see the other thing is that I want to make a slick graphics (like NHL hockey masks) package too. I know the heat and speakers are down on the bottom there, so it should be alright to cut around it. I'll let you know how it goes!

Cool!

I was out the other day looking for materials, you piqued my interest. It's the heat issue that I'm worried about. I am looking for something that has NO inslulating values. I found a clear removable / repositionable <sic> 10 mil sheets in 18" wide rolls that will adhere to smooth clean surface, and yes they will accept a paint design as well as can be printed on...

Keep in touch...
