I have been reading and noticed that some people have been losing battery life with Maverick but I have found that mine is even more. I have attached a photo, but it seems that for some reason, Safari is using a ton of energy. As you can see, I have over 50% battery and just 1:12 left on it. Any way to make it use less so I can improve my battery life?

its seem like whats ever your doing in safari is tkaing about alot of power and its seems to be realted tot eh networking.
IT sending and recieving packets.
are you listening to radio station and whatsing video and doing alot of upload and download using safari or have installed and extenttions or internet plugin recentally?
How many tabs do you have open? This is most likely because you are viewing some sites which are chewing lots of CPU; typically the tab that is displaying. Consider keeping fewer tabs open as it does take a toll on CPU and battery life.
I have watched Netflix a fair amount recently, but the computer had been shut off overnight and turned on this morning - would that still leave that much energy being taken up by video? At the time, I actually had no tabs open, just had Safari open without using it.
I actually didn't have any tabs open at the time. I try to keep number of tabs open down, but at the time, there were none open, Safari the application was simply open.
Same issue here: On a brand new retina 15" MBP, Safari, freshly relaunched and showing only the start screen, has an energy impact of > 100. Chrome, running concurrently with 3 tabs open and a video playing in one, stays under 30.
Same issue here. On a 2013 MBA 13''. Safari has an energy impact of > 100.
I am having same issue on Early 2015 Macbook Pro once I installed El Capitan. Any browser is instantly over 100 even when just sitting with one tab like google. Really don't want to have to reload OS X if it is an easy fix. But disabled all add ins and uninstalled flash & silverlight completely
