FCPX 10.1 RENDER FILES KEEP DISAPPEARING

Do you have Background Rendering on or are these forced renders? And why do they need rendering…because of effects you've applied – or becasue of a mismatch between the media and project settings?

I'm not running into this on the occasions that I render (which I don't do unless I have to).

Is it all projects or just one specific project?

If it is a specific project, try deleting the project render files (all).

Same problem here. 10.1 / Mavericks / 8 core / ProRes with effects - happens to both renders done manually and background.

Quit, reopen, a few links temporarily show renders needed - but when skimmed or touched, they relink.

Many (if not most) others do not.

Same here (FCP X 10.1.1, Mavericks 10.9.1). Very annoying. No re-linking here as M J Fitz explained. Happens to some projects and not to others. So far I'm not able to narrow down what is causing this. It's absolutely unpredictable.

Problem really makes me angry.

Deleted ALL Rendering FIles from Event (not only the UNUSED). Quit FCP X. Removed the application altogether. Deleted Caches and Preference Files. Ran PrefsManager from Digital Rebellion to remove other Prefs files (like Motion).

Downloaded a fresh version off the Mac AppStore. Opened my last used Library with Events and Projects. Rendered everything (always keep an eye on your embedded compound clips - they do not render automatically when you hit Shift-Ctrl-R in your timeline).

Quit FCP X and reopened. Guess what? Approx. 20% of the timeline show that orange bar. And - no - it doesn't update when you mouse over the corresponding clips in the timeline. Did a full render again. Quit and reopen. Again - parts of the timeline show the orange bar. Interestingly enaugh: they are different parts from what had been indicated before.

Don't know what to do. Keep FCP X open all the time? Doesn't sound like a solution to me and my MacBook (MBP Retina, 16 GB, 768 GB SSD, Mavericks 10.9.1, FCP X 10.1.1). Performed all the usual procedures like repairing rights, resetting PRAM, deleting Caches, even boot-up in Safe Mode - to no avail.

I felt like this problem went away... now I keep experiencing it. I'll shut down FCPX, then open back up, then all my clips w/ effects/opacities/etc need to be rendered.

any one have any ideas?

Same here, half of my renders disappear, especially when there are two effects layered (like subtitles and timecode), the orange bar appears after restart. Very annoying. Running 10.9.2 fcpx 10.1.1 on a

3 GHz 8-Core Intel Xeon E5 with 48GB RAM.

Like Mavericks, Final Cut Pro X is great but full of bugs. I just ran into the same problem now... first time I see that. It took me 5 hours to render everything in order to play it in real time, and after playing with a little piece of audio, BAM!, orange bars everywhere (nothing to do with that piece of audio). Restart, even worst, now 95% of my timeline is to be re-render... not to say the other bug that occur when you try to copy and paste Distortion Effect Settings. Everything is messed up.

Suggestion: Duplicate your project at different stages of your project. Particularly if you're working with tons of effects. That way you have a "history of versions". And if you have compunds and multiclips, use Duplicate as Snapshot.
