Macbook Pro 2006 Battery Not Charging
Hi,
I've had a long list of technically issues with my Macbook Pro (2006), but the most recent (and most frustrating) has been the lack of cooperation between my charger and the computer.
A few days ago, my computer shut off and would not turn on no matter how long I kept it plugged in. The original charger would not light up, at all. So, I tried my dad's charger (only a year old), which at first connection, the light was bright green, indicating it was charged. I left it on the charger while I was at work (8 hrs), and when I returned, the light was a very dim green.
The original charger worked on my Dad's computer.
So, I took the computer back to the guy I bought it from, and he replaced the Connector board (unsure if that's the name, where the charger plugs into the computer). He left it on his charger throughout the day, and that seemed to do the trick. Just to test it, we reconnected the original charger, and at that point, the charger flashed orange and would flash the screen whenever connected. So, we thought it was the charger.
I took my Mac home, and bought a new Magsafe 85W Power Adapter ("L" Style versus "T"), and plugged it in. Thing is, this charger is only being used as a power supply and not charging my battery. The percentage does not move (neither increase or decrease) when plugged in, but upon disconnection, the percentage will drop by 1 or 2 numbers.
My Dad claims it's the battery, but the battery has only 143 cycles on it, so I shouldn't need a new one. I never had a charging issue until I updated to Mavericks (2 weeks ago), which kindly came along with a Wifi issues, too (but that's a different story).
Any ideas as to fixing this or what is going on?
Thank you!
