Problem With Font Panel

In spite of following the instructions, I find it impossible to add certain fonts to my favorites. They are shown in "all fonts," and I try to drag them or select "add to favorites," from the drop down menu. Also, how can I delete items from the favorites? My favorites part looks very odd. The first part of the box is blank then the fonts are listed at the bottom.
