You could try another browser, such as Firefox, iCab, & others, and set that up differently than Safari; and use various browsers for several other things. Some have to be more secure, others may be better for visiting some sites, and if there is content that is better served by another, have more than two browsers.
You can also choose to have a different browser be the system default in your computer, so it will launch instead of Safari. You do not remove Safari in order to run any others, instead use its preference setting to choose one that you've installed, if you want it as the primary one that launches on demand. Some play well together so it is possible to have two different browsers windows open at once, without software conflict.
Just be sure the main OS X system software and the browsers are kept up to date; and be certain the settings don't expose you to more than you want from your browsing experience.
Good luck & happy computing! 🙂
