Aperture can not see folders on Hard Drive

Hi Guys, i have a problem that i cant seem to find an answer to.

I have a mac pro with an SSD and 3 x internal drives. when i try to import files in to aperture i can see all the drives in the import dialog, and i can see all the folder contained therein, except for one of the drives. i can see the drive but no folders. If i use Lightroom i can see all the drives and all the folders contained in them. I have rebuilt the library i have even created a new library, but still no luck. Can anyone help.

What is special about the drive? What file system is used on the drive? Is it different from your other drives? Are the permissions different?

Do you see the folders on that drive in the Finder or when you try to import to Image Capture or iPhoto?

There is nothing special about that particular drive, and i can see the folders in finder, bridge, lightroom. and nikon NX2, i dont have iphoto.

Does Aperture see the drive in the Export window? Can it write to that drive?

yes i can export out of aperture to any of the folders in that drive. and i can export a file out to it no problem.

Then I have no idea, sorry.

Does Aperture at least see an image file, if you copy an image to the toplevel of that drive?

Or if you sign into your Mac from a different user account? That will exclude problems caused by conflicting preferences files or import presets.

It does not see any files on that particular drive, but it does in any of the other three drives. tried signing in on a guest account and it has the same problem.
