Just Fix Mavericks!
Instead of telling us how to get past this, I wish Apple would just plain fix this so that we could log in with the scanner. I will hold off upgrading to Mavericks until this is resolved.

In reality, it is up to the third party vendor, in this case Authen Tec,
to insure compatibility with any OS update. If they are registered
developers, which a company like this should be, they receive
all OSX updates and upgrades long before they are ever released
to the public. It is up to them to test and update their sofware
as needed. And if they do in fact find a true bug in the OSX
update/upgrade, it is up to them to diligently persue a fix.
Apple bought the original developer Authentec, so it is completely under Apple's control to fix this bug. One was able to login with a fingerprint scan in OS versions prior to Maverick.
PeterMac87 - Apple is stating a work around. I am not upgrading to Mavericks until they fix the bug that prevents one from using the Authentec Truesuite software to login with a fingerprint scan.
Being that they bought the company to get the fingerprint scanning for iPhone 5s, I doubt they will ever do anything with TrueSuite. They may roll it into the OS, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for an update to that software.
