Jan 11, 2014 9:06 AM in response to GeorgeKunzelby den.thed,Yes, Image Capture still works in Mavericks. The old drivers and software no longer works in Mavericks and HP would really like to sell you a new printer/scanner instead of supporting the one that you have.
Start with > OS X Mavericks: Set up a printer
and try > OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
for additionally scanner support, see > Mac Basics: Using a scanner
Then if none of the above articles help, you may need > Gutenprint for Mac OS X

Jan 11, 2014 11:39 AM in response to GeorgeKunzelby arthur,Try:
- uninstall all the HP printing and scanning software on your Mac
- reset the printing system again
- do a factory reset on the printer. Check the manual for how.
- try image capture again.
- If that doesn't work, see if there's updated. HP scanner software on their website.
VueScan is another option. VueScan Scanner Software for Windows 8, Mac OS X 10.9 (Mavericks), Linux, iPhone, iPad, iPod, Android
