cannot find playlist on iPod Classic

I have an iPod Classic 160gb. I created a playlist by holding the center button as directed and adding the song to the On The Go folder. That seems to work just fine except that I cannot access the playlist on the iPod. I connect the iPod to the computer (windows). Launch iTunes. Go to iPod.. Go to On This iPod. I can see the playlist On The Go 1. It contains the songs. However, when I go to the iPod Music , there is no playlist selection, no On The Go. Music subcategories are: CoverFlow, Artists, Albums, Songs and Search. My iTunes says that the iTunes and iPod have the latest upgrades.

On the iPod, look in the Playlists menu, and the On-The-Go list is at the very bottom. It is out of alphabetical order!

Once you connect the iPod to your iTunes Library, one of two things will happen to that On-The-Go Playlist:

  • If you save an On-The-Go Playlist on the iPod, it is re-named as New Playlist 1, (or whichever number is next available). When synced back to iTunes, this playlist is usually (note "usually") re-named as On-The-Go X. Sometimes though, I've had these Playlists either remain named as "New Playlist X" or changed to simply "Playlist X". (X is the next available number)
  • If you leave an On-The-Go Playlist on the iPod, in the live On-The-Go section, then at Sync time, it is also synced back to iTunes and re-named as On-The-Go X.
  • In both cases, those Playlists are now in alphabetical order, both in your Library and on the iPod.

Okay, let's start again. It appears that Playlists is not on either the Main Menu (the very first menu) or your Music Menu. This is an option, that you can turn back on, as follows:

If your Main Menu does not have Playlists listed on it:

from the Main Menu, go into Setttings/Main Menu and scroll down to Playlists. With that Playlists highlighted, press the select (centre) button so that there is a tick to the right of Playlists. Once that tick is there, you will find Playlists on the Main Menu.

On the Main Menu, go into Playlists. On-The-Go should be at the bottom of the list of Playlists, as I have previously mentioned.

If your Music Menu does not have Playlists on it:

from the Main Menu, go into Setttings/Music Menu and scroll down to Playlists. With that Playlists highlighted, press the select (centre) button so that there is a tick to the right of Playlists. Once that tick is there, you will find Playlists on the Music Menu. So your Music Menu will now read as Coverflow, Playlists, Artists, Albums, Songs and Search.

As above, go into the Playlists and On-The-Go will be at the bottom.

Now follow my previous post.

Are we there yet? 😐
