Q: Airport extreme having poor range

So a few months ago I bought an Airport Extreme to extend our old router range. The speed of the internet is great but the range is poorm when sitting in the living room 10 meters away from the A.E. iPhones, iPads, HTC phones and Samsung phones have really poor connection and it keeps dropping. My macbook pro has a good connection though, but when sitting upstairs it drops connection so now and then, mainly during Skype. Does anyone know if I can optimize the settings of the A.E. so i've got better range?

What is the exact model of the "old router" that you are attempting to extend with the 802.11ac AirPort Extreme base station?

One very important thing to understand in an extended network is the proper placement of the extending base station is critical for bandwidth performance. Please check out the following AirPort User Tip for details.

It's the router we got from our provider for internet, television and the phone. Model number is EVW320B, not sure if this is what you asked for

Unfortunately the AirPort Extreme cannot extend the wireless range of non-Apple routers as this feature would be incompatible ... and, most likely, why you were getting such poor performance.

The only option to extend the Ubee gateway device with the Extreme is if you can accept having the two routers interconnected by Ethernet. Then you can configure both routers for a roaming network.
