All of my music in iTunes has disappeared. Two years worth of music and work, GONE! How can I get it back?

All of my music has disappeared. It appears after a recent update, the files from the past 2 years are gone. They are not in any of the music folders or other download folders either.

How can this be fixed as it's not my error the songs are missing?

Thank you,

Shane

See Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash or Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.

If the media files really have been deleted, and there is no other source, then there are various undelete tools ranging from free, e.g. FreeRecover, to expensive which might help depending on how the files/folders were deleted and how much work is involved in recovering them. Either way, the more you do with the drive the less chance they have of being able to recover your data successfully. You should also extract the data to another drive to avoid corrupting what has yet to be rescued.

Note also that some "free" recovery tools are bait & switch. The free download will show what can be recovered, but you have to pay up before it actually pulls out any data.

Are all the Music purchased from iTunes Store ?

Do you mean you lost Music after iTunes update ?

Which Operating version are you using on your computer ?

Have you checked the Recycle bin if Windows computer and trash if Mac computer?

Most of the songs were purchased from iTunes. Some were downloaded from other sources and some were burned from my CD and DVDS

I am really not sure when the songs were lost. I haven't used iTunes in a couple weeks. My iPod is broke and I never replaced it. So I just use iTunes as my music player.

Windows 7

Recycle bin gets emptied every week.

Are these songs downloaded to a folder somewhere on my hard drive when I purchase the songs? I was under the assumption that iTunes is cloud based.

At any rate, all my stuff on iTunes is gone.

Thanks,

Shane

The normal location for your songs will be <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Media\Music\<Artist>\<Album>\## <Name>. If the songs are there then my first link should help restore your entire library whether purchased from iTunes, elsewhere, or ripped from disc.

If all else fails then, dependent upon region, you should be able to download your qualifying past purchases on demand. Details in the second link above.

Hello Shane,

You can once go through the link :

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1408

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2715

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2519

and " turningtest2 " method would be the best to find your iTunes Library. And also your assumption is correct all the Music, Movies, Apps, etc. that you purchased from iTunes Store can be redownloaded using icloud.

All of my music in iTunes has disappeared. Two years worth of music and work, GONE! How can I get it back?
