Thanks to all who responded. I did not try any of the recommendations because some of the actions don't seem to be available in IMovie 10.0. I was able to create an MP4 from a video as follows: In IMovie select share in ITunes. The movie is imported into your ITunes file as a "Home Movie" so look for the file there. After impoting to ITunes, use QuickTimePlayer, open file, export - audio only. You can designate where to save the audio file. Then you must import that audio file into your ITunes library. What a work around! Apple has pretty smart people and you would think they would have provided a much better process.
I downloaded audacity, but actually just found that in iMovie that you can go to File>Share>file and then select File Format: audio only and then the file type that you want MP3, WAV etc. and it works.
What version of iMovie are you using?
Matt
You will have to separate the audio track from the video (which you can fo in iMovie) and convert that to mp3, which you can do in iTunes.
mp3 is audio only.
I find it a lot easier to save the movie, drag into the freeware audio program Audacity -- only the waveform will appear -- and then edit or save that to whatever sound format I need.
Thank you, I will try that.
You're most welcome. I use Audacity for lots of things.
