How do I get my IMessage turned off because my phone was stolen? Now I have a Windows phone and my number still is listed as an IPhone.

I recently had my IPhone stolen and I replaced it with a Windows phone (not sure if that was a good idea). Never the less I need to take my phone number off from the IMessage list because I don't get messages from all my contacts that have IPhones. There phones all try to send the message as an IMessage, which I will not get, and I don't have my IPhone to make the change.

Call Apple support at 800MYAPPLE and ask for account support and ask them to deactivate your imessage account.

Is there any way around the $19 service fee they want Apple wants to charge me?

fee to fix something they should have done or your phone carrier, that's great.

I'm having the same issue, and i switched carriers at the same time too all my iFriends are unable to send me texts reliably. for a while it would send me texts then for no reason boom iMessages again and i'm not getting them.

They will not charge a fee if you tell them it is to deactivate iMessage.
