iTunes Error 12

My iPhone 5 suddenly got into "Serching" mode yesterday. Tried with other SIM but unfortunately it didn't work. Reset, Erase, nothing worked. I tried to restore the phone after that but now it is stuck in recovery mode due to iTunes error 12.

Can anyone help me out to get rid of error 12 please?

iPhone 5, iOS 7.0.4

Hello Jig Patel

That error code can be related to security software on your computer that may be interfering with connecting to the update servers. Check out the quoted section below for the steps to resolve that issue.

Resolve specific iTunes update and restore errors

http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3694

Check for hardware issues

Try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good. Also, confirm your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers. If you still see the alert when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

Common errors: 1, 10-47, 1002, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1000-1020

I've got exactly the same problem with my iPhone 5.

Searching...

nothing helped and I tried to follow Apple's instructions on this case (http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3780)

But when iTunes updated the phone it stopped suddenly with the error 12 thing which additional help leads me to nothing.

So my phone shows the apple logo with a progress bar at 80%.

this happened about a month after the support expired. seriously? i start believing that this is not a coincidence. is it built-in obsolescence?

My iPhone 5 could not connect to my carrier. My iPad did however when I put the iPhone SIM into it. The iPhone did not warn about "No SIMM"

That is why I decided to restore the iPhone. Now I get Error 12 most times when I try to restore the firmware. Sometimes it is Error 3.

My MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 (14C1510) and iTunes 12.1.0.50 was able to update my iPad to IOS 8.2 after the first iPhone restore failed. So I suspect that there is no problem with my computer reaching the Apple update servers. I gave up trying to restore using my Windows 8.1 PC after it responded with Error 3014. I know that that computer has Firewall issues.

Unfortunately, after the failed restore, my iPhone will not even give me access to email, iMessage or FaceTime.

This iPhone is in perfect condition but it is out of warranty. Apple would charge me £25 before providing any online support and the nearest Apple Store is over 100 miles away. Would it be worth getting it repaired or should I just scrap it and buy a replacement phone.
