Can you tell me if I have to download osx Mountain Lion before I attempt to download Maveric?I now have 10.7.5 Lion

Assuming your computer meets the requirements for Mavericks, you can upgrade directly from Loin (10.7.5)

If you meet the specs in http://www.apple.com/osx/specs you can download Mavericks for any system from 10.6.8 and above.
