does ipod touch come in 8gb

I have what i bought off ebay a ipod touch 3rd generation. when I talked to apple they told me that after giving them the serial number of the ipod and the version 4.2.1 that it was not a 3rd gener. ation it was a 2nd generation and that 3rd comes in 32 and 64gb not 8gb as he said it was on ebay I have never had a ipod or ipad before so im at a complete loss I was wondering if anyone else knows about this situation. would appreciate your input thanks and have a great day roxinal
