Downloading issue of itunes movie using new Apple tv

We purchased the apple tv and set it up successfully with our television and ipad 4 today, Jan 11, 2014. We purchased a rental iTunes movie right from the apple tv and it appeared to be downloading for a few hours, but after 4 hours, there is nothing indicating that it has been completed. When we 'check' the rental, or library there is nothing. It has not downloaded. There are no indications on how to 'play' the movie either which also seems to indicate that it has not been downloaded.. Any suggestions? Many thanks!

We had followed the directions. We were told at the store that we could watch an iTunes rental immediately if ordered through the Apple TV, but not the case, apparently. I just checked with speedtest.net--read other discussions. We have 4 Mbps--not sure why we don't have the recommended 8 Mbps. How can we increase the downloading speed?
