Audio problems

When using Apple TV to stream videos such as Netflix, YouTube and airplaying videos from my iPhone my audio doesn't work. Audio only works on recently purchased. How can I fix this problem? I'm sure it's not the hdmi cable because I have changed it on several occasions.
